Caravaggio: The Incredulity of St Thomas
Today in church on the feast of St Thomas – that is “doubting Thomas”, I got the idea to begin to share my thoughts and experiences of my Catholic Faith on a blog. I have come a long way yet not so far in my faith. I am trying to be a saint. I do not know how to do that, though. I get doubtful and as we know, Saint Thomas was doubtful and maybe so we can be, too. I mean, he asks the questions we all want to ask. In John’s Gospel, he asks Jesus who is telling his Apostles how He will go before them to ready rooms in His Father’s House for them, “How do we get there, Lord, when we do not know the way.” (Paraphrasing to help me bad memory). To which Jesus can respond what he tells each of us, that He is “the way, the truth and the Life”. Saint Thomas went on, after putting his fingers into the wounds of the Risen Christ, to share the Gospel in India.
What can I do? I am so little. Well, I can try to communicate what happened to me to get me to the daily mass (spoiler – it has a lot to do with Blessed soon to be Saint Carlo Acutis) and to try to convert each of my faults and foibles into something better. Sacrificial. I guess in my vocation of marriage and motherhood it is something to not complain that no one does X but just do to it lovingly – a nod to St Therese of Liseaux of course and her “Little Way” to do all things with great love.
Stay tuned and help me along the way – our goal should be sainthood and our hands should be empty when it is time to go before the Father showing we have nothing left to give because we gave it all.
Note: Be patient with me if I misquote or otherwise present something incorrectly. I am open to all suggestions :). Fiat.
